原因

最近の標準サービスコードの移行に伴って、ユーザーのファイル識別子を検索し、リンクを生成する機能にリグレッションが発生し、異なる組織ポリシーが適用された 25 人以上のグループチャットにファイルや写真のアップロードに失敗する問題。

・User impact : Users may be unable to upload files or photos in some group chats from the Microsoft Teams desktop and web clients.
・More info : Users may only encounter impact when uploading files or photos to group chats larger than 25 users with different organization policies applied e.g.
External users. Affected users may receive an error which states, “Failed when sending.”
As a workaround, users may be able to upload the file or photo to OneDrive for Business and share the file link to users of the group chat.
・Current status : We’ve deployed the initial fix but monitoring indicates that the fix may not remediate impact completely.
We’re developing an additional fix that will optimize and update the behaviour that group chat users’ file identifiers are searched and access links are generated.
We anticipate the fix will be fully developed and ready for deployment by our next scheduled update.
・Scope of impact : Impact is specific to any user attempting to upload files or photos to group chats larger than 25 users with different organization policies applied.
・Root cause : A recent standard service code migration inadvertently contains a regression, in the functionality that users’ file identifiers are searched and access links are generated, resulting in files or photos uploaded to group chats larger than 25 users with different organization policies to fail.

We’re continuing to deploy the fix for the remaining impacted users and expect that it will complete by Thursday, February 16, 2023.

・Current status : Following our review of network trace logs and additional diagnostic data, we’ve determined that a high number of user request timeouts is responsible for causing impact.
To mitigate the issue, we’re increasing timeout thresholds to reduce or avoid additional request failures.
In parallel, we’re enabling a feature flag in a section of infrastructure responsible for regulating file and photo uploads to Microsoft Teams group chats, which we expect to remediate impact once complete.

We’re reaching out to a subset of affected users to collect network trace logs to investigate if a potential networking issue may be occurring.
In parallel, we’re also requesting details regarding permissions set by affected organization’s administrators, as well as firewall details to determine if that may be contributing to impact.
Lastly, we’re also working to setup a live debugging session with a subset of users to reproduce the issue as attempts to reproduce internally have not been successful.

We’re analyzing additional logging, including HTTP Archive format (HAR) logging information from an attempted file upload, as well as Problem Steps Recorder (PSR) logs for further insight into reproduction steps to assist our investigation into the source of impact.
